Mechanical Team Learns More Machining

The Mechanical Team went to the on-campus machine shop to learn more machining processes. Specifically, members learned about the lathe and how to properly turn material. Members first were taught about the main components of the lathe:

• Headstock:

• Tailstock

• Bed

• Carriage

• Lead Screw

• Feed Rod

• Handle Wheel

During the training exercise, members calculated and adjusted the lathe's spindle & feed rate for 3003 aluminum!
